Gordon
Croucher passed away at the
Royal
Inland
Hospital
in
Kamloops
,
BC
on April 28, 2009. He was predeceased by his wife, Audrey, daughter and
son-in-law, Annette and Dennis Hall, grandson Bryce Hall and brother Syd. He is
survived by his grandchildren, Ryan and Kimberley Hall and Bridget Croucher,
niece Murielle Simpson (daughter, Sharlene (Darren) McIlwain and special great,
great nephew Kyle), nephews David Simpson, Allan Oram and their families. Gordon
was born May 19, 1930 in Windsor, Ont. and grew up in the
Chatham
, Ont. area. He joined the Army Reserves in 1945, the regular Army in 1948 and
saw action in
Korea
with the PPCLI and
Cyprus
with the RCE. In later years, he became a newspaper photographer. He married
Audrey on January 11, 1952 and after living in different parts of the country
with the Services, they retired to
Knouff
Lake
and later to
Kamloops
. Gordon was a long time member of the Anavets, Legion and Korea Veterans
Association. He loved dogs and cats and took care of many SPCA animals. He also
belonged to the Heffley Creek Gun Club. The family wishes to sincerely thank his
Cumberland Avenue
neighbours for all of their help over the years, Martin and his care workers at
“Nurse Next Door” for their assistance over the past six months and the
Doctors and Hospital staff at R.I.H. 3 West for the care and compassion Gordon
received while hospitalized. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service
will be held at a later date. Kamloops Funeral Home is in charge of the
arrangements.
